Review: With winter coming and a wider rougher trail in mind over the winter months I decided to upgrade from my 21. Menzcal’s to the 2.8 Maxxis. First things first ensure you have a wide enough wheel to support them I’d recommend a 30+ inner rim for a squarer more planted wheel. Straight out of the box these tyres are much heavier, to be expected with all that extra rubber. The tyres themselves are well made, well finished, soft compound with a great tread pattern that can easily cut through mud and slush as well as allowing you both a smoother and more planet ride.

Review: Have been riding this tire for about six months. Wear seems normal. I've mounted a lot of tires in my day: this thing was the hardest tire to mount that I've ever encountered, period. Almost got to the point where I was going to take it to a bike shop, then I found a youtube video. Secret: have to make sure the opposing bead is in the very center (smallest radius) part of the rim, ALL AROUND THE RIM, before you can get the other bead on. Even then it is still a bee-atch. I'm not sure I could manage it away from the shop; let's hope I never have to find out.
