Description: The Viavito Sumi is a great and practical folding rowing machine that has a 7kg (15.4lbs) flywheel promoting smooth rowing motion and working your upper and lower body. The machine offers 10 levels of silent, friction-free manually controlled magnetic resistance to get your heart pumping and you burning calories. You can monitor feedback from your workout on the LCD display that shows time, distance, calories, count and strokes per minute. For your comfort there is an ergonomic seat and large foot pedals. The row length is 80cm (31.5") and this combines with the commercial-quality rollers and the smooth 4-roller system to ensure your rowing is fluid, smoother and enjoyable. Review: Update 18.1.19. The price of the JLL rower mentioned below started to go up in June 2018 - shortly after I wrote my original review - and eventually came to match the price of this one. Perhaps they *do* read them. Original review: The folk on here praising these machines must all have far better backs than I. I used mine twice for about 20 mins each time - and I'm still recovering 3 months later! Also, frankly, I'm not sure why anyone would bother with this, given that the JLL® R200 is identical for less money. These are re-badged Chinese imports. Compared to a Concept 2 and a few others, most of these mid-to-low-end rowers have the same design flaw: the footrests cannot be adjusted and the mechanism crowds the handle in the start position, making it impossible to get the hands far enough forward for a full stroke. For me the footrests are set too far apart and too high. Just be aware the display only counts seat passes at a point about midway along the bench - so any info apart from the stroke count is an estimate, especially Kilometers. Don't expect 5K on this to equate to 5K on another rower; it's not even the same for 2 different people on this rower! If these things don't bother you, for a basic rower I guess this is ok and will get you fit - but you may as well buy the cheaper one. To be fair, it is quite sturdily built. (There's a return spring and some kind of silent freewheel mechanism enclosed in a plastic drum that would probably be the first things to fail - but who knows they might last several years, tho I doubt if the parts could be replaced.) Anyone saying the seat- wheels failed was probably using them over-tightened and jammed up. To sum up, I feel my purchase of this machine was a mistake. I was misled by over-enthusiastic reviews here; it doesn't suit me physically; and I could have got something as good for less money. If I was starting fresh I would check out the second-hand market.
