Brand: ERGON
Description: All the benefits of the GC1 grip for cyclists with backwards-swept bars. But combined with Ergon's bio Kork technology. The unique qualities of cork means that it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. Cork's natural damping qualities also make it an ideal grip material, and its low density mean the resulting grip is a lot lighter. The bio Kork grips use 40% cork, sourced from sustainable forests in Portugal which is certified for its ecologically sound production. This ecological theme is continued throughout the rest of the grip. The inner core is plastic reinforced using natural fibre, which make up 40% of its mass. In place of mineral oil, the gel in the palm section of the grip is vegetable oil based. It is all a result of Ergon's 'Green Lab" initiative. Features: 195g per pair.

Review: Used Ergon grips for years, and having recently built up a long-tail cargo bike I needed grips to work with the more upright riding position and swept bars. These are great! They do take some tinkering to get the angle set correctly (and that'll vary for everyone) but once dialled in they're super comfortable and seem to be wearing well after 1500 miles use in all weathers. Nice that Ergon are exploring less environmentally damaging materials to work with, and they look quite cool too, in a birkenstocky, hippy-bike-huggery kinda way. Reasonably grippy when wet but not so much if you're regularly using hand sanitiser and then sweating a bit, but I don't imagine any grip copes too well with that choice combination of hand slime! Important to note that these are only designed to work with bars with a sweep of at least 30 degrees (up to around 60 degrees). They will not work with straight bars and may actually cause more discomfort if you try.

Review: Important: this is for handlebars with swept back ends. If you have a straight handlebar you need to get another model. Mine are angled at 39 degrees and these handlebars are just about the perfect fit. They improved my thumb and wrist pain considerably. They feel a bit sticky, attract dirt, which seems to stick and are quite expensive, but I would definitely recommend them.
